チャンチャンとは、「輝ける太陽」の意味。インカ帝国に次ぐ巨大帝国であったチムー文明の首都の遺構。かつては２万５千人もの人口を抱えた、面積20平方キロメートルの巨大遺跡。アドベ（日干しレンガ）製の高い壁に囲まれた10か所の「シウダデーラ（城塞）」と、孤立したいくつかのピラミッドで構成されています。付属の博物館と、Nik An（ニカン）と呼ばれる「シウダデーラ」の一つを見学できます。
Chan Chan means "shining sun." The ruins were the capital of the Chimu, the second-largest empire after the Inca Empire. The ruins of Chanchan are gigantic, with an area of 20 square kilometers, which once had a population of 25,000. There were ten ciudadelas (citadels) surrounded by high adobe (sun-dried brick) walls and several isolated pyramids. You can visit the museum and one of the "Ciudadera" called Nik An.

Take a tour from Trujillo city or use a taxi. Alternatively, take a local bus bound for Huanchaco / Entrance fee 10 soles
*Tickets for Chan Chan Museum are shared with Nik An, Emerald Waka, and Dragon Waka (Rainbow Waka).
